Sonny Rollins Releases
'Sonny, Please'

Sonny, Please is Sonny Rollins first studio recording in five years. The CD is released on his own label, named after his own tune, Doxy

Sonny, Please was recorded after the band had just returned from a sold-out tour of Japan and Rollins felt the group had really come together after the string of performances. The seven tracks are a mix of originals by Rollins - Sonny, Please, Nishi, Remembering Tommy and Park Palace Parade - plus three old standards - Someday I'll Find You, Stairway to the Stars and Serenade.

The album is available to download or buy on CD at website to accompany the release, http://www.sonnyplease.com/. The site features a video of the making of the CD, which also includes an itnterview with Rollins himself. Here he confesses that the title is taken from a regular chastisement that he recieved from his wife!

Any release from such a giant of jazz is an event and the the previews available show that he is still on top form at the age of 76. He has also has been named 2006 Artist of the Year and Best Tenor Saxophonist by the Jazz Journalists Association.
