International Adolphe Sax Competition 2006

The winner of the International Adolphe Sax Competition 2006, which took place in Dinant, Belgium on the 10th-11th November 2006 has been won by Russian Sergey Kolesov. Second place went to Spaniard Antonio Felipe Belijar and in third place was Takumi Kainuma from Japan.

Adolphe Sax was born in the Belgian town of Dinant, on the bank of the broad River Meuse in 1814. On the centenary of his death, the International Adolphe Sax Association was founded, and each year since 1994 a saxophone competition has been held here to commemorate the life of the instrument's creator. Musicians and visitors take part in a collection of events and celebrations, including the Competition for Young Saxophonists, workshops for bands, meetings of saxophonists and a great programme of jazz concerts all featuring the great instrument.
