Conn-Selmer, Inc. Introduces Primo Reeds For Students
There are very good reasons why Conn-Selmer has baptized its new line of affordable student reeds “Primo.”
“Primo” not only means “first in a sequence”. It also means “of the finest quality” and “of great value.” All three meanings are interchangeable for this new reed line geared towards student players.
Primo Reeds are crafted from the superior cane and processed in the exact same manner as higher quality professional reeds. Primo Reeds, however, are specifically designed and priced for students. Offered in the most popular strengths, Primo Reeds are available for Eb and Bb soprano clarinet and bass clarinet, as well as soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones.
Primo Reeds are packaged ten to a box, except for bass clarinet, and tenor and baritone saxophone, which are packaged five to a box. Sizes for all instruments include 2, 2-1/2, 3 and 3-1/2.
“Advanced players are comfortable with selecting from a large number of reed strengths. For example, our Gonzalez professional reeds are available in quarter sizes for just this purpose,” said Lori Szczypiorski, director of marketing for the Conn-Selmer accessory division. “Primo Reeds are designed to make it very easy to select a high quality, affordable reed for every clarinet and saxophone student.” These new reeds feature a lighter scraping that makes them easier to play than mass-produced reeds. They are more stable and reliable, as well, because they are made from only the choicest cane. Suggested retail starts at $16.80 for ten Bb clarinet reeds.
