Suggestions For Sellers

The vast majority of people in the world are good and honest; they want to buy a saxophone to make music. Sadly there are a few people who are not honest, and so here are some suggestions to help you avoid being ripped off.

  1. Do not allow anyone to take your instrument away without having paid in full. May seem obvious but you would be surprised.....
  2. There are a number of scams that occur on all sorts of auction and classified sites, where a buyer, often from abroad, offers to buy an item for more than the advertised price then asks the seller to send some money back to them for some reason. Do not do this however plausable they may seem, or however they manage to tug on your heartstrings! Any cheque they send will be counterfeit and you will lose your instrument and some extra cash on top.
  3. If you are inexperienced at playing the instrument, take your teacher or a more experienced player to look at the instrument with you. Let them check whether the instrument will need any work and is suitable for a beginner.
  4. For hygiene reasons you should ask buyers to bring their own mouthpiece and reeds with them.
  5. Another tip is to be sure that the person who contacts you is the one who collects the instrument. A valuable warning story appears at MusicalInstrumentSales.co.uk
  6. Please note that MaxTheSax.co.uk is simply offering a classified advertising service, and that we cannot act as an intermediary for your sale, or offer advice on the value of or the selling or buying of instruments.
  7. Have we missed an important point? Let us know and we can add it!
